How cute are these puff pastry Christmas trees filled with ham and cheese? They are easy to make and would be the perfect festive snack to serve for Christmas. I love that you can fill them with just about anything you like or make them into a sweet treat with Nutella filling like my Nutella Puff Pastry Christmas Trees Recipe.

Ham and cheese puff pastry trees are a savoury appetiser or snack that combines puff pastry's flaky goodness with the rich ham and cheese flavours. I have folded them in a Christmas tree shape and attached them to a skewer to serve.
Ingredients
You only need a few ingredients to make these puff pastry Christmas trees with ham and cheese filling!
- puff pastry
- sliced ham
- cheese slices
- skwerers
- optional to brush - minced garlic, parsley and butter. parsley
See the recipe card below for quantities.
Instructions
Lay out a piece of semi-defrosted puff pastry.
Add a layer of sliced deli ham.
Add a layer of sliced cheese (grated cheese falls out when you fold it).
Place another piece of puff pastry on top and push down.
Slice into 8 equal strips. A pizza cutter is best for this if you have one.
Fold the pastry starting at the bottom, making it thicker, and slowly fold thinner to the top to make a tree shape.
Carefully push a skewer up through the puff pastry, leaving about 1 cm on the top to add the cheese star.
Place on a lined baking tray and in the oven at 200°c for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove the puff pastry trees from the oven. Melt the butter and add the minced garlic and parsley. Brush the butter over the puff pastry trees while still warm.
Cut out the stars from some cheese using a star cutter. Place them on the top of each of the skewers and serve.
Hint: There is no need to soak the skewers as they are not in the oven long enough to burn.

I KNOW these will be a hit. Can't wait to buy them. So glad I bought the puff pastry from COSTCO in the restaurant size box. Appreciate the many variations as well. Might have to buy more Nutella.

How do I print your beautiful recipes? I cannot remember them by heart.

These turned out beautifully. I spread a little honey mustard on the ham. Not too much or the cheese wants to slide off the ham when you fold it into the tree shape. I removed the skewers after baking.

I made these twice and delicious both times. The first time I had no sliced cheese (didn’t use any meat either) so used what I had, shredded Parmesan…just pressed it firmly into the puff pastry dough. I also wanted them smaller, so cut the strips thinner and got 15 trees. They were delicious and so cute. I don’t have small cookie cutter stars, so left off and still look good. The garlic butter is a must, though added avocado oil to thin out as it was so thick. The second time I made the butter, I didn’t put in as much garlic and still added some avocado oil. The way the Parmesan cooked it looked like red lights on a tree. The second time I made I did half sliced cheese (still no meat) and half shredded Parmesan again. I have to say everyone liked the Parmesan more. These look good, taste good, and so easy to make. Looks like you spent hours making them and yet you didn’t. Simple and delicious.

Good morning. Would you be able to make them the day before, store in the fridge and bake them the next day? Thanks
