This Spaghetti Carbonara is the easiest pasta dish you can make and it's ready in under 15 minutes. Not only is it quick and easy to make, you only need a few ingredients to make it.
The ingredients in this spaghetti carbonara recipe are simple and creamy! You will be shocked to know that there is no cream in this recipe, but the end result is a creamy pasta dish. The fat and oil mixed with the egg and pasta makes the most amazing sauce.
Ingredients
- spaghetti pasta
- eggs
- parmesan cheese grated
- olive oil
- bacon, diced
- garlic, minced
- reserved pasta water
- salt and pepper
- fresh parsley, chopped
See the recipe card below for quantities.
Instructions
Cook the spaghetti pasta as per the instructions on the packet. You’ll be reserving some of this pasta water for the end of the recipe.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and the parmesan cheese and set aside.
Use a large fry pan over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and bacon and cook for around 8 minutes or until crispy. Add the garlic to the pan and reduce heat to low. Cook for 1 minute.
Turn off the heat. Moving quickly, stir in the cooked pasta and egg mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
Gradually add the reserved pasta water, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve straight away.
Hint: Stirring the egg mixture quickly "cooks" the egg to make the sauce but doesn't curdle it as it's not too hot.
Top tip
This recipe is best made and served fresh due to the egg used as a sauce. You can reheat it later to eat, but the egg in the sauce may split when reheated and it won't have the same texture.
