    Easy Swedish Meatballs (IKEA Style)

    August 21, 2022 by ohsobusymum 1 Comment

These IKEA style Swedish Meatballs are so delicious and super easy to make! Better yet, you don't have to make an excuse to visit IKEA just to eat some of their famous meatballs.

    Jump to Recipe

I love making meatballs for dinner as it's one food all of my kids will eat, which is something rare in my household. Not only will all of my kids eat them, but they are also quick and easy to make!

Along with these IKEA meatballs, my kids will eat BBQ Ham and Cheese Baked Chicken Breasts, Take Away Style Honey Chicken and Creamy Caesar Baked Chicken.

    Ingredients

All the ingredients used are from the official Swedish Meatball recipe posted by IKEA. I have just adjusted the quantities to suit a family.

    Meatballs

    • Beef mince
    • Pork mince
    • Brown Onion
    • Milk
    • Breadcrumbs
    • Egg
    • Crushed garlic
    • Salt & pepper

    Sauce

    • Butter
    • Plain flour
    • Beef stock
    • Cream
    • Soy sauce
    • Dijon
    • Salt & pepper
    • Parsley

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

Follow these easy step by step instructions below to make these IKEA meatballs.

Combine all meatball ingredients together in a large bowl. Roll into tablespoon sized balls and place on a lined baking tray.

Place meatballs in the oven on 200°c for around 25 minutes or until cooked through. You will need to turn these a few times so that they cook and brown evenly.

In a saucepan over a medium heat, melt butter and whisk in plain flour. Slowly add beef stock while whisking until sauce thickens. Add Cream, soy sauce, mustard and simmer for 5 minutes until thick and creamy.

Once meatballs have cooked, top them in the sauce and serve with greens, mashed potatoes.

    Top tip

I find it easier to bake the meatballs on a large tray in the oven, but you can also cook them in a frying pan on a medium heat.

    TIPS when making the meatballs

    • Cook at 200 °C fan forced turning every 10 minutes.
    • Chop the onion super fine to stop the meatballs from separating when cooked (bonus to hide the onion from the kids too).
    • Serve the meatballs with mashed potato and green vegetables.
