Sticky BBQ Meatballs - Oh So Busy Mum

These Sticky BBQ Chicken Meatballs are so easy to make, which makes them perfect for a weeknight meal. They are made with chicken mince covered in a sweet sticky BBQ sauce. You will only need 25 minutes to make these meatballs and just a few ingredients.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs

What I love about this BBQ Meatballs recipe is that you can use any type of mince that you like. This recipe works well using pork mince, beef mince or of course chicken mince which I have used in this recipe.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs

I like to serve this recipe with a side of plain rice and some greens, but you could serve with a crunchy coleslaw too! You could also cook these in the slow cooker to make this recipe even easier.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs Ingredients

    Ingredients

    Meatballs

    • chicken mince
    • bread crumbs
    • eggs
    • garlic power
    • onion powder
    • salt & pepper

    Sticky BBQ Sauce

    • BBQ Sauce
    • honey
    • worcestershire sauce
    • water

See the recipe card below for quantities.

    Instructions

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 1

Preheat fan forced oven to 180°c and line a large baking tray with baking paper. In a medium bowl, add the chicken mince, egg, bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder and salt and pepper.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 2

Mix all the meatball ingredients together well.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 3

Roll the mixture into tablespoon sized meatballs and place them on the baking tray. Place the meatballs in the oven for 25 minutes (turning half way).

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 4

Using a large fry pan or pot on a medium heat, add the BBQ sauce, honey, water and worcestershire sauce.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 5

Bring to a simmer and lower the heat for 8- 10 minutes while stirring with a whisk occasionally (you may have to reduce the heat to low so that it doesn't burn). The sauce will thicken.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 6

Once the meatballs have cooked through, remove them from the heat and add them to the sauce.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 7

Stir the meat balls through the sauce and remove from the heat.

    Sticky BBQ Meatballs step 8

Serve with steamed greens and rice.

    Top Tip

Try using beef or pork mince with the same recipe for some different flavours.

    Storage

Store meatballs in the fridge for up to 3 days. If freezing, freeze the meatballs and sauce separately to make it easier to defrost.
