10 Reasons why you need to visit Cairns Queensland

If you need a reason to visit Cairns, here are 10 of my top reasons to visit Cairns! I can't believe we live in Queensland, and this was our first visit to Cairns! We LOVED it so much that we had booked our visit back before leaving. We stayed in Palm Cove at Peppers Beach Club, which we found fantastic for our family of 5 (my eldest stayed home due to work). 1. Family Friendly

Everything is FAMILY FRIENDLY in Cairns, which is a must when travelling with kids. You'll find all of the restaurants are suitable for children with good kids menus and there are a lots of activities suitable for kids too. Within 10 minutes of being at our resort, my kids had already made friends with other children in the pool, which kept them busy for hours.

2. Swim Up Bar

A few major resorts have swim-up bars, which takes pool time up a notch! It makes it feel more like a tropical destination when you can relax in the pool with a cocktail (or mocktail) in hand.

3. To Spot a Croc

We tried really hard to spot one in the wild, but we had no luck, so we went to Hartleys wildlife park for a fun day out! We really enjoyed our day here, and so did our kids.

4. The Sky Rail

Kuranda is a MUST for any trip to Cairns. Although it wasn't my highlight because I'm scared of heights, the kids loved it and still talk about it. You can catch the train (Kuranda Scenic Railway) up to Kuranda and the Skyrail back down, and spend a few hours exploring Kuranda before returning.

5. Bali vibes without leaving Australia

Our first thought when we arrived at Palm Cove was that it felt like Bali without the hustle and bustle of Bali. If you don't want to head overseas, this is definitely the next best destination.

6. Day Trip to the Reef

It's not a trip to Cairns without a day trip out to the reef. A lot of these are family-friendly and suitable for children too. Jump online and find one that is best suited to your family.

7. Short Flight

No international flights or passports are needed to enjoy a tropical getaway! Jump on board for a short flight, and you're there.

8. The Warm Weather

Like any good tropical holiday, you want warm weather, and Cairns has the right amount of it.

9. It's paradise!
