The moment I stepped off the plane, I knew Hawaii was for me. If you've followed me for a while, you already know how much I love the USA, and Hawaii to me was a more island style of what I already love. I'm hooked and can't wait to go back and experience Hawaii all over again.
Just in case you need a reason to book a trip, here are my 10 reasons why you should visit Oahu!
The Shopping
Make sure you have a spare suitcase or enough room to bring back all your bargain buys. Hawaii is full of the best shopping, from Ala Moana Center, Ross (this is a MUST), Walmart, Target and the outlets. Trust me when I say you will come back with your bags jam-packed!
The Beach
Even with the busyness of Waikiki Beach, it's still postcard perfect and a lovely spot to take a dip. It's easy enough to find your spot anywhere along that main tourist strip and relax for the day.
The Food
OMG, the food! I'm such a foodie and Hawaii has so many good eats. The food trucks alone are amazing, you will want to try them all. If you only pick a few, make sure you try the garlic prawns, shaved ice and Leonard's Bakery. Oh, and don't forget the cheap cocktails that are everywhere!
The Sightseeing
There is always some type of sightseeing to do, from exploring the north shore, visiting the cultural centre or swimming with the turtles.
The Kid-Friendliness
Hawaii is extremely kid-friendly and you'll find kids are welcome everywhere. Not only are kids welcome everywhere, but your hotel/resort will be filled with other families.
The Culture
Aloha and Mahalo are terms you will hear daily in Hawaii. The culture is something to be explored and Hawaii is a perfect place for the kids to learn and witness the Hawaiian culture.
The People
The Hawaiian people are friendly and welcoming. We found everyone is willing to have a chat and has a few stories to tell. We love that when travelling and Hawaii is definitely one of those places.
The Adventure
If you're looking for a holiday that is loaded with adventure, Hawaii is for you! There are so many options and a lot that are kid-friendly which we really liked. You can hike volcanoes, hike to waterfalls, snorkel with turtles and ride 4-wheelers with the most amazing backdrops.
The Relaxation
There is no sense of rush on Oahu and everyone soaks up the island life. If you want a relaxing holiday, Hawaii will provide a good balance of relaxation and adventure.
Disney Aulani
I couldn't visit Oahu without checking out the Disney Aulani resort. This place is amazing! If you have young kids, make sure you pop it on your wish list.
