Easy Mongolian Beef

Easy Mongolian Beef

Oh So Busy Mum
This Easy Mongolian Beef Recipe is one of my favourite Chinese style dishes to make at home. The beef is tender and the sauce is mild, which makes it perfect for the whole family. Did I mention it is easy to make, and it will take you under 20 minutes to put together?

Ingredients

Mongolian Beef Ingredients

  • 1 carrot julienne
  • 1 capsicum sliced into strips
  • 1 cup cabbage thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 500 grams beef steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • ¼ cup cornflour
  • cup shallots thinly sliced

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup water
  • cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce add more if you want some spice

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients and set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix together the beef slices and cornflour.
  • In a large fry pan on a medium/high heat, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the garlic, ginger, carrot, cabbage, and capsicum. Cook for around 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Using the same fry pan, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the beef and cook for about 2 minutes per side to create a crispy outer coating. If the pan seems dry, just add a little more oil and cook in batches.
  • Add the vegetables back into the pan along with the shallots. Add the sauce and stir.
  • Turn down to a medium/low heat and simmer until the sauce thickens (about 3 minutes).
  • Serve with cooked rice.
