Ingredients

Puff Pastry Trees

  • 2 pieces puff pastry
  • 4 slices ham
  • 6 slices cheese
  • 1 piece cheese for the stars
  • 8 skewers

Garlic Butter

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley

Instructions

  • Lay out a piece of semi-defrosted puff pastry.
  • Add a layer of sliced deli ham and then a layer of sliced cheese.
  • Place another piece of puff pastry on top and push down.
  • Slice into 8 equal strips. A pizza cutter is best for this if you have one.
  • Fold the pastry starting at the bottom, making it thicker, and slowly fold thinner to the top to make a tree shape.
  • Carefully push a skewer up through the puff pastry, leaving about 1 cm on the top to add the cheese star.
  • Place on a lined baking tray and in the oven at 200°c for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove the puff pastry trees from the oven. Melt the butter and add the minced garlic and parsley. Brush the butter over the puff pastry trees while still warm.
  • Cut out the stars from some cheese using a star cutter. Place them on the top of each of the skewers and serve.
