This post is a collaboration with SodaStream
This machine has been an absolute game changer for my family! I have wanted a SodaStream forever and I’m so excited that I finally have one! After using it for a week, I’m now wondering why on earth it took me so long to get one! It’s so easy to use, convenient AND so much fun. One thing I really like about the SodaStream is that I can let my children have fizzy drinks both plain and flavoured, the healthy way.
In recent months, I have been so conscious about making far healthier choices for myself and my family and at the top of the list, was avoiding sugary drinks. With the SodaStream though, I can create our own homemade, non-sugary fizzy drinks, save some money, keep the kids happy AND stay hydrated at the same time.
How to use a SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker!
- Fill the bottle to the fill line with cold plain tap water.
- Carbonate by pushing the button 2-3 times – depending on your preferred level of fizz.
- Add desired flavours to the carbonated water (Note: make sure you add any flavours after you carbonate, and not before).
- Pour yourself a glass and Enjoy!
The new Spirit Sparkling Water Maker (pictured) retails for $109.00 and comes fully equipped with a 60L gas cylinder and a 1 Litre BPA Free Carbonating Bottle. The gas cylinders can be exchanged conveniently at more than 660 Coles Express locations across Australia in addition to any Coles, Safeway, Big W, Kmart or Target stores. SodaStream also has a large range of different flavours available, including their surprisingly delicious sugar-free range. All available here.
Over the weekend, the kids got creative with some healthy fizzy drinks using our SodaStream Spirit. They each picked their favourite fruit and we spoke about what fruit combos go well together. They love fighting each other to push that button and watch the water magically fizz up (secretly, so do I). I thought I would share a few of our favourite Healthy Fizzy drink combos with you after my little taste testers approved each of their fruit combinations. I didn’t include how much fruit to add, as it depends on the size of your glasses and how many drinks you are making. I just pop 2 – 3 tablespoons of fruit in the bottom of each glass. If your children don’t like any chunks of fruit, use a sieve to push the fruit puree through before adding it to the drinks. Voila!
- Cut up fruit, blitz it in a food processor until smooth and place a few tablespoons in the bottom of each glass.
- Add water to the SodaStream and fizz it.
- Pour sparkling water into the glass and add ice.
- Happy Fizzing!
Do you have a SodaStream? I would love to know what flavours or drink combos you have created at home using your machine. We are having WAY too much fun with ours!
